Work Packages

Overview of the work packages:

WP1. Setting up Community research partnerships/co-production partnerships.

lead: Hannah R. Marston

This work package focuses on the creation of the community research partnerships.  The community research partnership workshops will be part of WP4 and WP5 – so team members here will be automatically part of those WPs.

Co-production sites:

  • Middlesbrough Co pro group – Hannah R. Marston, Katie Brittain, Grant Gibson and Rekindle
  • Bristol Co pro group – Matthew Lariviere, Joanna Thorn and Age UK Bristol.
  • Hertfordshire Co pro group.  Jennifer Lynch, Nicole Steils.

Wider sub group members.  Carolyn Wilson Nash. Raj Mehta

WP2.  Evidence Synthesis

Lead: Nicole Steils.

The evidence synthesis will run throughout the project, and incorporates three main tasks.

  1. A rapid review of academic literature.
  2. Collate grey literature (policy documents, pilots, evaluation reports) of accessible literature across the UK.
  3. A more detailed review of literature available through the 8 partner  local authorities. A core team will create the review and review documents. The core team will pull together a rapid review plan during the first quarter of the project.

Sub group members – Grant Gibson, Carolyn Wilson-Nash, Matthew Lariviere, and Catherine Henderson

WP3.  Realist Evaluation.

Lead: Matthew Lariviere

The realist evaluation will give us an opportunity to explore in more detail the delivery of services in up to three local authorities.  The expectation is that the majority of the work package will focus on a post hospital discharge service delivered via Middlesbrough council, with a possible comparison with Redcar council.  Middlesbrough provide a well developed post hospital discharge service, whereas Redcar’s service is less developed.

We expect this to include  two parts – the realist evaluation itself, and a secondary analysis of service level data from up to three local authorities – Middlesbrough, Bristol and (possibly – to be discussed) Oxford.

Sub Group members – Grant Gibson, Katie Brittain, Hannah R. Marston (realist evaluation).
Joanna Thorn, Jo Worthington, Katie Pike (stats advice for secondary analysis).

WP4.  Identify core technologies and outcomes.

Lead: Jennifer Lynch

This in many respects is the main work package in terms of developing findings from the project, and is where the co production workshops and e-Delphi exercise are based.  The co production workshops will ascertain priorities for technologies and services for service users, and the e-Delphi exercise collects this information from the perspective of services and their staff. Most of the team will be involved in this work package to some extent or another, but I’ve highlighted the key sub groups

Sub Group Members – Grant Gibson, Carolyn Wilson-Nash (e-Delphi Exercise & workshop) and the Co production groups  -(teams set up in WP1)

WP5  Methods and theoretical framework development.

Lead: Grant Gibson

This is the work package where the development of the actual application.  All Co-I’s will have roles in this WP. I’ve highlighted sub groups but the expectation is there will be overlaps across these methods. Precise timings for these activities will depend on the announcement of the call but are planned for the second half of the project.

  • Co production groups (teams set up in WP1).
  • Matthew Lariviere, Nicole Steils, Grant Gibson, Jennifer Lynch (Qualitative methods development.)
  • Matthew Lariviere, Jennifer Lynch (Implementation science methods)
